Did you know that nearly 14% of Exeter's jobs are in the knowledge-based industries?

That is nearly 12,000 people out of a total of nearly 85,000 employees in the city. Out of 122,000 residents,  57% are educated to A level or above, and 34% to degree level; the University alone has over 18,000 students registered and over 2,800 staff members.

The University of Exeter directly and indirectly employs nearly 5,000 people. It puts £250m a year into the local economy, with a turnover of over £170m in 2007/08 and £200m in 2009.

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is the city’s largest employer, providing specialist acute hospital services primarily to about 350,000 people in Exeter, East Devon and Mid Devon. It also provides diagnostic services and treatment for patients further afield.
